Kaneohe Marine base set for ‘Lethal Breeze’

Advertiser Staff

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII — Marine Corps Base Hawaii will conduct its annual force protection exercise tomorrow.

During the base-wide training event, service members, in conjunction with the Honolulu Police Department, Federal Fire Department and other local and federal agencies, will conduct, prepare, prevent, respond and recover from effects from natural and manmade incidents to protect Marines and sailors, patrons and employees, their families and Marine Corps resources.

Lethal Breeze will take place tomorrow, and organizations involved will be evaluated in different scenarios to include homeland security operations, responding to a small aircraft mishap, fire in a control tower and in a hazardous material control site. They will also encounter a mass casualty scenario involving simulated explosions and chemical explosions.

Lethal Breeze is an annual event to test Marine Corps Base Hawaii's response to emergency situations likely to occur on base and enhance joint coordination with local law enforcement, fire, federal and military personnel on Oahu.
