BRANFORD, Conn. — Raymond Clark III, a “person of interest” in the slaying of Yale graduate student Annie Le, took an interest in Asian cultures while he was in high school, according to a yearbook.

Clark, 24, is a 2004 graduate of Branford High School. According to the 2004 yearbook, Clark was a member of the Asian Awareness Club, which prepared meals of authentic Asian cuisine and held fundraisers to raise awareness about Asian culture. On Jan. 22, 2004, the group went to New York City’s Chinatown to participate in the celebration of the Chinese New Year, according to the yearbook.
He also belonged to the Interact Club, whose mission was to draw attention to the plight of the less fortunate. In one fundraising activity, the group slept outside overnight in cardboard boxes, according to the yearbook.
Clark was also part of a group called “Cheers for Charity,” a club that sought to help people with financial problems. The group raised money for cancer victims and single pregnant women.
