Kara Adanalian of Pahoa has been selected as a finalist in Ocean Spray's Ultimate Cranberry Recipe Contest and stands to win $25,000 if her recipe, Sweet-n-Savory Haricot Verts, is a winner.

She and a companion will travel to New York City for the Oct. 5 finals and results will be announced Oct. 6 by contest judge and TV Food Network star chef Tyler Florence.
The contest attracted more than 2,00 entries in both professional and home cook divisions. The semi-finalists were tested by chefs at Johnson & Wales University, a prestigious culinary school, and Tadware & Co., Inc.
