ONE HULA GIRL TRUNK SHOW
The Red Pineapple is predominately a gift boutique. However, if something out of the ordinary catches her eye, owner Nalani Holliday is all over it. Such is the case with One Hula Girl yoga (and more) wear. She saw those hip tees and yoga pants and had to have 'em, first for herself and now for her customers. Meet the designer, Marty Martinson, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Red Pineapple in Ward Center.
ON OUR RADAR
TOTE A LITTLE HOKUSAI
When the "Hokusai's Summit: 36 Views of Mount Fuji" exhibition opens Thursday at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, the Academy Shop will introduce a line of handbags by Lynda Sakraida and jewelry by Kathy Lo Rocks, inspired by Hokusai's masterpiece. We got a sneak peek.
Innovative Honolulu handbag designer Sakraida of Hadji Baba Bags has created a line of bags that feature images of Mount Fuji. In a variety of sizes, styles and colors at $120 to $375, the artful bags pair beautifully with our Island way of dressing with a touch of Japan.
Rocks, a San Francisco-based jewelry designer, has come up with a line of delicate pendants and earrings made of Japanese washi paper. The earrings shown are $55, the necklace is $45.
