The state Department of Transportation reminds motorists not to use emergency shoulder lanes to watch this weekend's "Wings Over the Pacific" airshows featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
The airshows are scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday at Hickam Air Force Base. The Thunderbirds will practice flight formations today.
Motorists are not permitted to stop, stand or park on any state highway or freeway except in emergency situations.
Honolulu police will patrol the area to ensure that vehicles do not stop along H-1 Freeway or Nimitz Highway to view the shows.
The department also warns motorists to anticipate a possible increase in traffic on H-1 Freeway near the base and at Honolulu International Airport.
Air travelers may also be affected by a temporary flight restriction, 3 to 4 p.m., today through Sunday, during which there will be no arrivals or departures from the airport.
