Three people were rescued in SCUBA diving incidents in East Oahu yesterday morning, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
The first rescue was of a SCUBA diver in distress aboard a commercial dive boat outside Moanalua Bay at 10:10 a.m. The dive boat, the Sea Fox, had already pulled the female diver out of the water and was heading back to shore when firefighters arrived. Firefighters escorted the dive boat back to shore using their rescue watercraft back to the Hawaii Kai Marina. Firefighters assisted the Emergency Medical Service.
The second incident occurred at 11 a.m. when three divers offshore the Lanai Lookout, had to be plucked out of the ocean by the fire department's helicopter Air 1 and taken to shore. Firefighters rescued a man and a woman and a third diver was able to scramble onto the rocky ledge, firefighters said.
All three divers reported to be in early to mid-20s. No one was injured.
