The American Cancer Society's inaugual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5-mile walk is scheduled for Oct. 3 at Richardson Field.

Registration 7 a.m. and the noncompetitve walk begins at 8 a.m.

The event will raise funds to fight breast cancer and help those facing the disease. The local American Cancer Society provides transportation to and from treatment for patients, assistance with wigs for those who lose their hair, classes to help people cope with appearance-related side effects, emotional support services and a 24-hour cancer information phone line, as well as other resources.
