The National Weather Service has issued a red-flag warning for leeward areas of the state.

The warning remains in effect until 5 p.m.
The weather service says low humidity and gusty winds are expected today, creating dangerously ideal conditions for the start and spread of fires in dry areas.
The weather service says similar conditions are expected tomorrow.
Residents in dry areas should clear brush from their properties to reduce potential fuel for fires.
Residents should also be especially vigilant and call authorities immediately in the event of a brushfire, or if they see suspicious behavior related to starting brushfires.
