Police officers responded to a report of an argument on Paiwa Street about 5:50 p.m. and were told by witnesses at the scene that the man had a handgun in his car.
One of the officers approached the car and the man told the officer that he had the weapon in the car, police said.
The officer recovered the handgun and the man was arrested without further incident on suspicion of failing to properly store a firearm.
