Hawaiian Air flies mercy mission; regular flights resume tomorrow

Hawaiian Airlines is sending a special relief flight to American Samoa. Relief workers of the U.S. Coast Guard and NOAA, and volunteer physicians from Hawaii Disaster Medical Assistance Teamwill be on the flight.

A Hawaiian Airlines flight bound for Pago Pago this afternoon will be carrying relief supplies and personnel to American Samoa.

Hawaiian Air and Bank of Hawaii each donated $10,000 to buy supplies of food, water, bedding and other necessities for families affected by yesterday’s tsunami. Webco, Wal-Mart and City Mill also contributed goods and services.
Hawaiian Air is also sending a team of employee volunteers as well as ferrying relief workers from the U.S. Coast Guard, officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and volunteer physicians from the Hawaii Disaster Medical Assistance Team.
Hawaiian Air will resume its twice-weekly scheduled service to Pago Pago tomorrow, with Flight 465 departing Honolulu at 5 p.m.
