Four years ago, Waipahu's Keith Kaneshige won Pigskin Picks and he showed his appreciation and generosity by giving half the prize winnings to a friend who provided him with extra ballots.
"Now, everybody's giving me ballots," he said.
And for good reason.
Kaneshige, 55, an engineer at Pearl Harbor, won the contest again, correctly picking the winners of all 15 games and earning a trip for two to Las Vegas and $100 worth of pizza from Papa John's.
So, since his wife usually stays home to care for their family dog, will Kaneshige again be sharing his winnings with the same friend, Herb Soken, who still gives him ballots?
"He got his," Kaneshige said. "I think it's going to be my sister on Maui."
Kaneshige said he submitted 13 print ballots. He numbers them to keep track, with No. 1 being his "best" ballot and No. 13 being what he thinks is the worst. The No. 13 ballot won.
That ballot included the Detroit Lions' victory over Washington. "I usually go with Washington because Colt (Brennan) is there. I don't know? I just took Detroit."
Ironically, Kaneshige on Sunday made reservations to accompany his in-laws and his sister-in-law and husband to Las Vegas in November. Within an hour later, he realized he had a perfect ballot.
Kaneshige felt winning was the result of good karma — he used his miles to purchase two tickets for his in-laws and his good deed was repaid with a Pigskin Picks victory and two tickets.
He said now he's "gotta plan another (Vegas trip). Sorry I won, but I gotta go. ... there's always time for Vegas."
