Fisherman aboard capsized boat apparently drowned

Advertiser Staff

A 46-year-old man apparently drowned early yesterday while fishing in Kāne'ohe Bay when the boat he was in capsized, police said.

Two other men in the boat were uninjured.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office identified the victim yesterday as Henry Hoapili Jr. of Kāne'ohe.

Police said the boat capsized about a mile off shore just after midnight.

The men swam back to shore, and at some point the 46-year-old got into trouble. Police said the victim apparently drowned.

Police have opened an unattended death case, pending the results of an autopsy.
