The man who tried to throw his girlfriend off a balcony while embroiled in an argument at their Waikīkī apartment has been charged with attempted murder and for an unrelated warrant, police said.

Police charged Bryan Adam Roudebush, 23, who was being held in lieu of $100,500 bail on a charge of attempted second-degree murder after the incident at their apartment at 2611 Ala Wai Blvd., police said.

The incident happened about 10:15 p.m. Friday, and police said the 25-year-old woman managed to fend off the attack and escape.
