Hype 5-0 take third place in MTV dance crew competition

Hype 5-0, the first hip-hop crew from Hawai'i tapped for MTV's "Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew" has finished in third place in the show's fifth-season competition.

Poreotics, a robotic/tutting/popping crew from Westminster, Calif., was named as the winner last night. The group received a gold breakdancing trophy and $100,000. Blueprint Cru, a Canadian crew known for its dance/choreography style, won the runner-up spot.

Hype 5-0 landed a place in the nine-crew national competition in February, after advancing from a west regional competition.

Hype 5-0 includes: Josh "Hazmat" Ulep, 22, of Wailua; Brittnie Aguilar, 18, of Mililani; Casey Kalahiki, 23, of Honolulu; Marc "Dueynutz" Duey, 21, of Kapolei; Jonathan "Ramones" Ramones, 18, of 'Ewa; William "Nessy" Soares III, 19, of Honolulu; and Allen-Charles "Brain" Pascual, 26, of 'Ewa.
