JCCH benefit concert stars famed pianist Jon Nakamatsu
Renowned pianist Jon Nakamatsu will perform a benefit concert for the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i on April 24.
"A Concert in the Ko'olaus with Jon Nakamatsu" will be held at the Ko'olau Ballrooms at the Ko'olau Golf Club.
Nakamatsu was born and raised in San Jose, Calif., but has strong family ties to the Islands, including a 96-year-old grandmother whom he plans to visit during his stay.
There will be an autograph session following the concert.
Named debut artist of the year by National Public Radio's "Performance Today," Nakamatsu has been profiled by CBS' "Sunday Morning" and Reader's Digest, and is featured in "Playing with Fire," a documentary about the 10th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
Prices for the event are $50 for adult non-JCCH members; $40 for adult JCCH members; $25 for non-JCCH members 18 years and under; and $15 for JCCH members 18 years and under.
Registration starts at 5 p.m. with pūpū and no-host cocktails. The concert begins at 6 p.m.
