Salute the planet with keiki activities, free trees

With Earth Day coming up on Thursday, local organizations are providing ways to honor Mother Earth this weekend:

• Keiki Earth Day — do craft activities, see demonstrations on making healthy snacks, have your keiki take a hula class and more, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. today; Baby aWEARness/Hot Mama Maternity store, Manoa Marketplace; free. www.babyawearness.com or 988-0010.

• 1,000 Trees Giveaway — choose from dozens of types and get advice from arborists, 8 a.m.-noon Sunday; Manoa District Park pavilion, off Lowrey Avenue; free. 944-1400 or www.malamaomanoa.org.

• Earth Day at the Honolulu Zoo — visit zoo learning stations, play animal games, do crafts and more, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday; Honolulu Zoo; $12 general ($6 with local ID), $3 for ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and younger; 971-7195.
