Agencies testing security response plans today

Federal, state and local law enforcement and firefighting departments will join the Coast Guard and the National Guard's Civil Support Teams for a homeland security exercise at Honolulu Harbor's Pier 19 today.

The Coast Guard said the exercise is aimed at testing existing security response plans, communication protocols, and law enforcement tactics.

Several fire department and law enforcement vehicles and vessels will be in the area testing response procedures and tactics.

Agencies involved include the Hawai'i National Guard 93rd Civil Support Team, California National Guard 9th Civil Support Team, Honolulu Police Department, state Department of Public Safety, state Department of Transportation Harbors Division, Customs and Border Protection, Honolulu Fire Department and state Civil Defense.
