The mother-daughter team of Elaine Costello and Lue Zimmelman is gathering their friends for a special Mother's Day boutique sale, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Waioli Tea Room. It will be a treasure trove of local designers, many of whom seldom show except during holidays. Among them: Teru Jewelry, Pitacus, Kim Messier, Bev Seki, Kim Kono, Sherrie Rupert and Cora Yee. TCM AND ELLE COUTURE PAIR UP

The Contemporary Museum and elle Couture Jewelers will present a special pre-Mother's Day sales event from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday in the museum's gift shop; 10 percent of the proceeds will benefit TCM. The event features Roberto Coin's Appassionata Collection, made in Italy and inspired by Coin's love of textiles; 237-5210, gwong@tcmhi.org.

SUGAR AND SPICE

The Veranda at the Moana Surfrider is holding its "Sugar and Spice Mother-Daughter Tea" from noon to 3:30 p.m. May 8. JEANIE CHUN DESIGNS

Fashion designer Jeanie Chun has just opened a boutique in the Wailana at Waikīkī. She is offering custom design in addition to special occasion ensembles, wedding and mother-of-the-bride gowns, exclusive chapeax and her newest addition, custom dog clothing. And, yes, she will have some of her popular long-sleeved knit shirts. Boutique hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and by appointment Saturdays; 942-2242.

SHOWCASE HAWAI'I AT HISAM

Honolulu has a fabulous new place to shop for made-in -Hawai'i goods. It's called Showcase Hawai'i and it's

in the lobby of the Hawai'i State Art Museum, 250 S. Hotel St.

Showcase Hawai'i is owned by Laurie and Wayne Nunez, who tie the shop to their weekly home-shopping TV show, also called Showcase Hawai'i, airing on OC16 nine times a week (www.showcasehawaii.tv).

The shop stocks a carefully edited selection of everything from surfboards to aloha shirts, women's wear to woodwork. Among the featured artists are Ida Teiti (clothing for men and women), Ron Kent (wood work), Bev Creamer (beaded jewelry), Cora Yee (silver and semi-precious stone jewelry) and Jeff Lee (glass, to name a few.
