Final set of Oahu homes to receive blue/green carts for curbside recycling

Advertiser Staff

About 42,000 homes on Oahu that have automated refuse collection will start receiving their recycling carts tomorrow in the city’s fourth and final phase of its island-wide curbside recycling program.

The delivery process takes about 10 weeks and the program is set to begin the week of May 3.
The Department of Environmental Service will deliver green and blue carts to homes from Waikele to Makakilo, Waipahu, Ewa Beach to West Loch, and from Honokai to Makua. Residents are asked to not use the carts until the May start date.
The city said informational brochures will be attached to the outside of the blue carts. For more information, visit www.opala.org or call 768-3200.
