Chef Mavro earns Top 40 rating from Gayot guide

Chef Mavro restaurant in Honolulu is the only Hawai'i restaurant to be included in the Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S. as determined by the respected Gayot guide.

Los Angeles-based Gayot sends critics to restaurants to evaluate them on a 1- to 20-point scale, with food most heavily weighted but service and ambience also considered. Their Web site, Gayot.com, additionally offers opportunites for diiners to rate restaurants (the site includes a blog and listings of restaurants, hotels, resorts and other lifestyle features, as well).
Chef Mavro received an 18 of 20 points rating ("Excellent") to stand alongside The French Laundry, Gary Danko, Jean Georges, Le Bernardin, Per Se and Alinea, storied Mainland restaurants.
Chef Mavro specializes in French-accented Hawaii Regional Cuisine with a wine-matched menu that is reinvented each season. Chef-owner George Mavrothalassitis is a James Beard Award winner.
