Chef Nobu Matsuhisa returns to Nobu Waikiki

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa will visit his Oahu restaurant next week, offering a special menu, a cooking class and a book signing-cocktail party.

The events:
• MA’O-inspired Omakase Menu. Matsuhisa will make a visit to MA’O Farm in Wai’anae and develop a chefs’-choice menu to be served Feb. 9-13 at the restaurant. Twenty percent of the proceeds will benefit the farm’s internship program, land expansion, scholarships and community days at the farm.
• Sushi and Sake Tasting Class. On Feb. 11 Matsuhisa will demonstrate his signature sushi and cold dishes with sake pairings for eight lucky diners at the sushi bar. Cost is $300, including lunch with Nobu after the demonstration. Registration and deposit required: 237-6999.
• Cocktails and Aperitivo with Chef Nobu. Matsuhisa will host a happy hour 5 to 8 p.m. in the Nobu Lounge, including a three-course appetizer tasting for $18 and MA’O –inspired cocktails by bar manager Dave Newman. At this event, he’ll also sign copies of his cookbooks.
Nobu is located on the first floor at the Waikiki Parc Hotel; hours are 5:30-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 5:30-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Valet parking at the hotel’s Helumoa porte-cochdere. Reservations: 237-6999 or go to http://www.opentable.com.
