UH women's hoops blown out on road

RENO, Nev. – The University of Hawai’i women’s basketball team lost the battle on the boards and the scoreboard today in falling to Nevada, 76-56, at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nev.

The Rainbow Wahine fall to 9-16 overall and 3-9 in Western Athletic Conference play. Nevada improves to 15-11 overall and 9-3 in conference action, moving into second place in the conference standings.

UH kept the game close in the first half, but couldn’t keep Nevada used its 51-27 rebounding advantage to pull away.

Junior point guard Keisha Kanekoa led the way with 14 points, including 10 in the first half. Leilani Galdones had 10 points and sophomore Katie Wilson came off the bench to score 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

The Rainbow Wahine wrap up their three-game road trip Wednesday night at San Jose State. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. PT at the Events Center in San Jose, Calif.
