Hawaii seeking contractors for Energy Star program

Associated Press

HONOLULU — The state is asking independent contractors for proposals to provide technical assistance to hotels to attain or renew an Energy Star building label.

The program promotes energy cost savings and environmental protection through energy-efficient products and practices.
Gov. Linda Lingle is encouraging hotels to partner with the state in receiving technical assistance that can help them become more energy efficient.
She says earning an Energy Star involves implementing measures that will help save businesses money on utility bills while decreasing Hawaii’s dependence on imported oil and strengthening the state’s energy security.
The request for proposals for Energy Star technical assistance will be funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
