The city announced Tuesday that 49 new stalls have been added to the Maili Beach parking lot, of which three are handicap stalls.

In addition, there are now ADA-compliant concrete walkways, a picnic table and charcoal pit, and landscaping.

This project was funded through the Leeward Coast Community Benefits program, which provides $2 million a year for the area to offset the location of the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill. The project cost $500,000 and it was completed ahead of schedule.
