UH's De Lima dives into WAC history

Hawai'i's Stephanie De Lima won the 3-meter diving event yesterday at San Antonio, and became the first diver in Western Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships history to sweep all three events.
UH scored 392 points to finish sixth in the nine-team field. Boise State won with 547.
De Lima, who earlier won the platform and 1-meter events, scored 333.10 points in the 3-meter and was named WAC Diver of the Year. It is the eighth time in the past nine seasons that a Rainbow Wahine has earned that award.
UH's Mike Brown was named Diving Coach of the Year for the fifth year in a row and sixth time in his career.
In other noteworthy UH performances: Hannah Bocksnick placed second in 3-meter diving with 328.55 points; Melissa Myers placed third in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 17:10.54; and Alyssa Manlow was third in the 200 butterfly in 2:03.96.
UH SECOND IN C-USA
Hawai'i divers finished first, third and fourth yesterday, helping the Rainbow Warriors place second for the third year in a row at the Conference USA Swimming & Diving Championships in Houston.
Douglas Cohen won the platform final with 327.55 points, Thomas Rugg (288.45) was third and Freddie Menzel (239.05) fourth.
UH amassed 833 points. SMU topped the five-school field with 871.
In other noteworthy UH performances: Perry Sharify finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:01.48; Luca Mazzurana finished third in the 200 butterfly in 1:47.28; Davis Kane placed third in the 100 freestyle in 44.67, and the team of Sean Reilly, Mark Higley, Ilia Reyes and Kane finished second in the 400 freestyle relay in 2:57.25.

KAUFMAN SOARS TO GOLD
Hawai'i senior Amber Kaufman won the high jump at the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships for the second straight year yesterday at Nampa, Idaho.
Kaufman, who has won four gold high-jump medals at WAC championships in her career, leaped 6 feet to help the Rainbow Wahine place fifth with 61.5 points. Louisiana Tech amassed 175 points to win its fifth straight WAC indoor title.
Sarah Saddleton leaped 5 feet 8 to finish second to teammate Kaufman for the second year in a row.
Also, Madara Apine helped the 'Bows win the silver medal in the triple jump for the third straight year with a leap of 39-11.25, and Anika Borden (52-8.25) and Emma MacCorquodale (52-6.5) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the weight throw.
SOFTBALL
NO. 2 ARIZONA TOPS UH
Brigette Del Ponte hit a grand slam during a six-run fourth inning, propelling No. 2 Arizona to an 8-3 victory over Hawai'i yesterday in the Cathedral City (Calif.) Classic.
Kenzie Fowler pitched a two-hitter for the Wildcats (10-1), yielding solo homers to Jenna Rodriguez and Kelly Majam.
Earlier in the day, UH's game against No. 9 Oklahoma was canceled due to inclement weather. The Rainbow Wahine (9-6) finished the tournament 1-3 in completing an 11-day road trip.
WATER POLO
RAINBOW WAHINE SPLIT
Sixth-ranked Hawai'i split its matches yesterday in the opening round of the UC Irvine Invitational in Irvine, Calif.
Monika Eggens scored five goals, Leonie Van Der Molen added four and Amarens Genee two as the 'Bows (6-6) beat host UC Irvine, 11-7, in the morning.
Emily Csikos and Stephanie Schnugg each scored two goals as third-ranked California beat UH, 8-4, in the evening.
