HAWAII BRIEFS
Three suspects held in murder attempt

Advertiser Staff

Police have arrested three men in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Waipahu.

The arrests were made about 6:43 a.m. yesterday, after police got a call from a woman who said someone had been shot in an apartment on Leolua Street.

When police arrived at the apartment, no one answered the door, but through a screen window police saw a 22-year-old man lying in a pool of blood in the living room.

The officers entered the apartment, where they found three other men, ages 17, 18 and 37, who were subsequently arrested for second-degree attempted murder.

The 22-year-old was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police did not say what led to the shooting.

Police said they were called to the apartment earlier in the day — about 5:47 a.m. — by a man who said someone had been shot. Police were sent to a different apartment, and found nothing there.

The apartment complex where the shooting happened has three buildings.

It was unclear yesterday whether the victim and three men arrested in the apartment live there.
