Staffing shortage shuts Hanalei, Kilauea redemption centers

Advertiser Staff

A staffing shortage is shutting the Hanalei and Kilauea HI-5 certified redemption centers this week.

Normal operating hours at both centers are expected to resume next week.

The Hanalei center is open Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the Kilauea center is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Both centers operate without any break for lunch.

The closest redemption center to the north shore is the Kapahi center, at 5675B Kawaihau Road, behind the Menehune Food Mart.

The normal operating hours at the Kapahi center are Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a lunch break from noon to 1:30 p.m.

For information on other bottle redemption centers around the island, call the County Recycling Office at 808-241-5120, or visit www.kauai.gov/HI5.
