Injured hiker from Seattle rescued from Kalalau Valley
An injured 55-year-old male visitor from Seattle was airlifted from Kalalau Valley on Kaua'i after his son found help Saturday afternoon.
The man, who was hiking with his son, had severely injured his ankle and was unable to hike out, according to Kaua'i officials.
The son hiked alone to the Ching Young Village and called police at 11:35 a.m., Kaua'i officials said.
Rescuers from the Líhu'e fire station flew into the valley on Airborne Aviation, picked up the injured hiker at the Kalalau Valley and flew him to Princeville Airport, Kauai officials said.
