Board of Education meeting tonight on Kauai

The Hawaii State Board of Education will hold a community meeting on tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School in Lihue on Kauai.

The public is invited to attend the meeting to discuss public education and public library issues.

The meeting at the school's cafeteria will include a ceremony honoring public schools recognized for student achievement in the 2009-10 Hawaii Distinguished Schools Program. Hawaii P-20 will make a presentation about the Board of Education Recognition Diploma, also known as the “Step Up” diploma, to inform interested parents and students from middle and high schools about the benefits of earning the diploma.
