A man was critically injured Thursday morning in Waipahu when the scaffolding he was working on collapsed.
Bryan Cheplic of the city’s Emergency Services Department said paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 7:30.
Cheplic said the man, who appeared to be in his 30s, was injured when he fell about 10 feet and then was struck by the collapsing scaffolding.
Cheplic said police officers were first on the scene and extricated the man from the debris. They performed CPR until paramedics arrived, he said.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The accident happened at 94-134 Waipio Point Access Road, across Waipahu High School.
