Matson to raise fuel surcharge to 27.5% effective Feb. 7
Matson Navigation Co. said today it will raise its fuel surcharge by 3.5 percentage points, from 24 to 27.5 percent for its Hawaiçi service.
The state's largest shipping company said the increase will be effective Feb. 7.
In addition to the icrease for its Hawaiçi service, Matson is also hiking the surcharge on its Guam/CNMI and Micronesia service from 25.5 percent to 29 percent.
The company notified customers in a letter that went out today saying the increase was a result of rapidly rising fuel related costs.
