North Shore swell results in five rescues

Advertiser Staff

Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services Division personnel performed five rescues and 55 assists through 3 p.m. on the North Shore today as high surf continues in the area.

Safety officials also issued 820 verbal warnings.
The swell that has produced the high surf is expected to slowly drop below warning levels through the day tomorrow before increasing again tomorrow night through Thursday.
Beach-goers are advised to always swim at a beach where there is a lifeguard; consult with a lifeguard regarding ocean conditions before entering the water; heed all warning signs; never swim alone; and know their limits.
