The state Public Housing Authority board has unanimously voted to name Denise M. Wise the agency's new executive director, the Department of Human Services announced.

Wise previously served as executive director of the Gunnison County Housing Authority in Colorado.

Her 25 years of management experience also includes leadership positions with Bank of America, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and a nonprofit community development corporation in Milwaukee that focused on the development and management of affordable housing.

One of the major responsibilities for Wise will be overseeing the mixed-income redevelopment of the Kuhio Park Terrace and Kuhio Homes public housing.

Wise replaces Chad Taniguchi, whose last day at HPHA has not yet been set.
