Hawaiian Springs expands to 3 states

Hawaiian Springs bottled water will be expanding on the Mainland to Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.

Hawaiian Springs, a bottler of Big Island artesian well water, said it is expanding into Colorado, New Mexico and Utah with placements in 14 Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage stores.

Hawaiian Springs has been expanding distribution on the Mainland since last year, having had limited distribution previously through health food retailers including Whole Foods. With the new additions, Hawaiian Springs is now available in six western states.

TECHNOLOGY SECTOR TO MEET ON PRIORITIES

Members of Hawai'i's technology sector will discuss their agenda for the 2010 legislative session during a meeting today at the Plaza Club in Downtown Honolulu.

The presentations will begin at 4 p.m. and include a discussion of the state's future in technology as well as recommendations from a work group. Sen. Carol Fukunaga and Rep. Angus McKelvey will also take part in the discussions.

The event is being hosted by the Hawaii Venture Capital Association and ThinkTech Hawaii.

MAUI DAIRY SPONSORS ZINFANDEL FESTIVAL

Maui's Surfing Goat Dairy is among the sponsors of the 19th Annual Zinfandel Festival next week in San Francisco.

The "Zin in Paradise" festival will include more than 250 Zinfandel wineries from all across California pouring samples and new releases for a crowd of more than 10,000 people expected for the Jan. 28-30 event.

The festival also features Maui-based celebrity chef Beverly Gannon, one of the founders of Hawaii Regional Cuisine.

On Jan. 28 cheeses from Surfing Goat Dairy will be paired with wines from the Z52 Winery.

On Jan. 29 Surfing Goat Dairy will be the only featured cheese-maker at the "Evening with the Winemakers."

HOKU SCIENTIFIC, HEI TO DISCUSS RESULTS

Two Honolulu-based companies have scheduled conference calls to discuss quarterly results and their business outlook.

Hoku Scientific Inc., the Hawai'i company that has majority ownership by a China-based firm, said it will discuss results for its fiscal third quarter on Jan. 27 at noon local time. The results, along with a discussion of its business outlook, can be accessed through Hoku's www.hokucorp.com Web site.

Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. will release its financial results for the final quarter of 2009 on Feb. 11. It also will discuss its financial performance and outlook during a webcast on its site at www.hei.com at 3 a.m. Hawai'i time on Feb. 12.
