If you're like us, you start thinking about your next trip as the current one is still winding down. Start thinking now about volunteering in your own community, and in exchange you could receive a free Disney pass. Right now, O'ahu volunteer opportunities in the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program include Junior Achievement, Make A Wish, and USO Hawai'i. More details at our On The Cheap! blog.

Kama‘äina and military guests will be treated to free admission on Jan. 25 at Bishop Museum in celebration of its founder, Charles Reed Bishop.

Museumgoers can learn more about Bishop — the husband of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop — in the Founder's Alcove in the Castle Memorial Building. The Ka Lei Päpale exhibit features Bishop Museum's 19th and 20th century hat collection alongside contemporary hats, and "Ho'olaulole: The Joy of Wearable Art," features fashion pieces created by Native Hawaiian visual art students.

Valid photo identification is required. For details and regular admission prices for all other visitors: www.bishopmuseum.org or 847-3511.
