The Board of Water Supply said today that work will continue into next week to remove two boulders that fell behind the Kalihi Valley Homes housing project last Friday. The contractor has broken apart most of the two boulders and has removed about half of the material.
A geotechnical engineering firm has identified a rock overhang that poses a potential threat and the Board of Water Supply notified the Hawaii Public Housing Authority of the find. The geotechnical firm hired by the Board of Water Supply is bringing in a contractor to secure the rock overhang.
Meanwhile, work to assess the hillside is ongoing and the Board of Water Supply is awaiting the final assessment and recommendations from the geotechnical firm and said it will continue to take appropriate action.
