Eucharist service marks Candlemas celebration

Advertiser Staff

Candlemas, which marks "The Presentation of Christ in the Temple" as a baby, will be observed with a sung Eucharist (communion service) 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Andrew.

Candlemas (or Candle Mass) also refers to a traditional practice whereby a priest would bless beeswax candles for use throughout the year, distributing some to the faithful for use in the home. The public is welcome to bring their own candles to be blessed.

Accompanying the Candlemas procession will be the cathedral choir. For additional information, call 524-2822.
