Search resumes Saturday for missing boater

Advertiser Staff

The search for a boater who was reported missing Friday evening near the Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe will resume Saturday at first light.

City and federal rescue crews began searching for the boater after a distress call was made at 7:35 Friday evening. The boat was last seen about 30 yards from Pyramid Rock, said Capt. Earle Kealoha, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman.
Federal fire units searched the area on both sides of the rock, while HFD and the Coast Guard searched the waters offshore of Pyramid Rock, he said. Kealoha said there were no signs of the missing boater.
The search was suspended at 9:30 p.m. and will resume Saturday morning.
