Sewage spill reported in Aiea

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Health has advised people to stay out of Aiea Stream following a sewage spill Tuesday.

The department's Clean Water Branch said 4,875 gallons of wastewater overflowed from a manhole at 99-703 Aiea Heights Drive.
The sewage entered a strom drain at 99-730 Holoai St. and discharged into Aiea Stream. The overflow was caused by roots in the pipes.
Warnings signs were posted and water samples will be collected from Aiea Stream.
