Kauai, Maui receive $3.4 million for healthy living programs

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $3.4 million grant to district health offices on Kauai and Maui to support programs that promote healthy living and fight obesity.

The award was announced today by the office of U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono.
A news release says the money will be used to “raise residents’ knowledge and awareness of healthy eating and active living. ...”
The grant is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
