State flags to fly at half-staff Sunday in tribute to Heftel
State and county buildings will fly the Hawai'i state flag at half-staff on Sunday in honor of the late Cec Heftel, Gov. Linda Lingle's office said.
Heftel, a former Hawai'i congressman and media executive, died last month. A memorial service honoring Heftel's life will be held Sunday at the Hawai'i Theatre.
The event is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
Heftel represented Hawai'i's 1st Congressional District from 1976 to 1986 and owned KGMB radio and TV in the 1960s and '70s. He also served on the state Board of Education from 2004 to 2008.
