Members of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs gathered at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki this morning to drape lei on the statue of the association’s founder — Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole.
The lei-draping is one of a series of events being held this month to celebrate the life of the prince.
After the ceremony, members of the civic clubs gathered with members of the royal family, royal societies and others at Maunaala, the Royal Mausoleum, in Nuuanu.
The events culminate tomorrow with the Prince Kuhio Hoolaulea, Commemorative Parade and Moonlight Concert at Kapiolani Park.

The parade, which will be led by Grand Marshal Haunani Apoliona, goes from from 4 to 6 p.m.
The concert, showcasing Kuuipo Kumukahi, plus other local musicians and halau, is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m.
