Man struck by car on Pali in critical condition

Advertiser Staff

A 46-year-old Honolulu man was critically injured after he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross Pali Highway Tuesday afternoon.

The man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a 2005 Toyota Camry shortly before 1 p.m., police said. The victim was crossing from the west sidewalk toward the center median about 160 feet north of Vineyard Boulevard, police said.

A car driven by a 43-year-old woman was heading south when the man ran into the path of the vehicle, police said. The driver was not able to stop in time and struck the man.

The man suffered head injuries and was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition. The driver was not injured.

Police closed Pali Highway town-bound from School Street to Vineyard for about two hours while they conducted their investigation.
