Navy launches investigation of Marine death in barracks

Advertiser Staff

The Navy is investigating the death of a Marine who was found unresponsive yesterday morning at Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kāne'ohe Bay.

Military police responded to a 911 call for help at a barracks room on the base early yesterday morning, a Marine Corps statement said. Two service personnel were checking the man's vital signs and told military police that the man was not breathing.

Two MPs began CPR, but were unable to revive the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The statement did not provide information on the victim. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the case.
