Ewa Beach boy says man robbed, extorted him

Advertiser Staff

A 20-year-old homeless man was arrested Monday in connection with a robbery complaint filed two months ago by a 15-year-old boy.

The boy told police the man approached him about 2:30 p.m. March 2 in Ewa Beach, told him to empty his pockets, threatened to assault him and took his iPod before fleeing.

The boy told police the man spotted him the following day at a public park and demanded to be paid every week if the boy wanted his iPod back. He said the man threatened to beat him if he failed to pay.

Police located the suspect Monday in Hauula and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree robbery and third-degree extortion.
