ATLANTA — Tom Glavine is joining Hank Aaron, Warren Spahn, former teammate Greg Maddux and three others as the seventh Braves player to have his uniform number retired.
The Braves will induct Glavine into the team's Hall of Fame and retire his No. 47 on Aug. 6.
Maddux had his No. 31 retired last year. The other Braves players to have their numbers retired are Aaron (44), Spahn (21), Eddie Matthews (41), Dale Murphy (3) and Phil Niekro (35).
Glavine says the honor "puts me in pretty darn good company."
The two-time NL Cy Young winner ranks 21st all-time with 305 wins, including 244 with the Braves.
