SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Backup Notre Dame tight end Mike Ragone has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.
Indiana state police say a trooper smelled marijuana after stopping a car Ragone was in 45 miles east of South Bend shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday. The trooper searched the car and found two baggies of a leafy substance that a field test indicated was marijuana.
The 21-year-old Ragone of Laurel Springs, N.J., and a 21-year-old woman traveling with him were each charged with marijuana possession, which carries a maximum sentence of a year in jail. Each was released on a $2,000 bond.
Ragone has an unlisted telephone number and could not be reached for comment.
