2 records set in state track trials
Advertiser Staff
Two records were set and two champions were crowned at last night's Island Movers State Track & Field Championships last night at Kamehameha.
Both of the records were set in the trials of the boys and girls 4x100 meter relays.
The Punahou boys' time of 42.38 seconds bettered the record of 42.53 set by Radford in 2008.
The Radford girls' time of 48.70 beat the record of 48.92 set by Mililani in 1999.
St. Anthony's Ethan Kim won the boys pole vault title, clearing 14 feet, 3 inches. In the girls high jump final, four competitiors cleared 5 feet, 2 inches, but Radford's Kaeli Patton was the winner based on the number of attempts needed to clear the winning height.
Top qualifiers from last night's trials portion advanced to tonight's finals. Field events will start at 3:30 p.m. and running events start at 5:40 p.m.
