Lingle records message urging support for Djou
Republican Gov. Linda Lingle's recorded voice is hitting telephones around Hawai'i's 1st Congressional District, urging voters to support Republican candidate Charles Djou.
Djou campaign manager Dylan Nonaka yesterday said the automated "robocalls" with Lingle's voice began Friday. He would not disclose how many calls are being made.
Her recording contrasts with a robocall the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee used earlier this month with the voice of President Obama, which urged voters to vote for a Democratic candidate in the race.
Djou and two Democrats, Ed Case and Colleen Hanabusa, are the leading candidates for the post.
