An 18-year-old Hanapēpē man was transported to a Honolulu hospital after he was badly injured Tuesday in a skateboarding accident, Kaua'i County reported.

The man fell while skateboarding in Numila on Halewili Road about a mile south of the Kaumuali'i Highway intersection.

Police dispatch was notified about the incident about 12:33 p.m.

The skateboarder was taken to Wilcox Hospital for treatment, and was later transported to The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu.
